Abstract

Indonesia's Human Development Index (HDI) in 2024 reached 75.02, an increase of 0.63 points or 0.85 percent compared to the previous year of 74.39. During 2020–2024, Indonesia's HDI increased by an average of 0.75 percent per year. The growth of the 2024 HDI accelerated from the previous year. All dimensions forming the HDI increased, especially decent living standards and knowledge. The life expectancy of babies born in 2024 was 74.15 years, an increase of 0.22 years compared to those born in the previous year. In the knowledge dimension, the expected length of schooling (HLS) of the 7-year-old population in 2024 increased by 0.06 years compared to the previous year, from 13.15 years to 13.21 years. Meanwhile, the average length of schooling (RLS) of the population aged 25 years and over increased by 0.08 years, from 8.77 years to 8.85 years in 2024. The dimension of a decent standard of living measured based on the average real expenditure per capita per year (adjusted) in 2024 increased by 442 thousand rupiah or 3.71 percent compared to the previous year.
