Happy National Statistics Day 2026: Quality Data, Better Policies

September 26, 2026 | Other Activities

Wonogiri – National Statistics Day (HSN) 2026 serves as an important moment to reaffirm the strategic role of statistics in people's lives and national development. Statistics are not merely collections of numbers, tables, or graphs. They provide a picture of various conditions and dynamics within society. Quality data can be transformed into valuable information to help understand challenges and determine the direction of development.

For the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), the commemoration of National Statistics Day is an opportunity to strengthen its commitment to producing statistical data that are accurate, relevant, up-to-date, and accountable. Such data are needed by governments, businesses, academics, communities, and various stakeholders as an important foundation for informed decision-making.

As society and the economy continue to evolve dynamically, the need for high-quality data is becoming increasingly important. Various development challenges require reliable information so that the conditions faced by communities can be understood comprehensively. With strong data support, development planning can be formulated based on measurable conditions and actual needs.

Statistics also play an important role in capturing changes over time. Through statistical data, developments in social, economic, demographic, educational, health, employment, and other aspects of life can be monitored and analyzed. Such information helps stakeholders understand progress, identify challenges, and evaluate programs that have been implemented.

However, producing high-quality statistics is not the responsibility of a single institution. It requires a comprehensive process and collaboration among various stakeholders. From communities as data sources, field officers who collect information, government institutions as sectoral data producers, to BPS as the statistical development agency and provider of official statistics, each has an important role in building a high-quality data ecosystem.

Public participation is an essential part of this process. The willingness of individuals and communities to provide accurate information based on actual conditions contributes significantly to the quality of the resulting data. Likewise, businesses and various institutions that serve as sources of statistical information play an important role. Every piece of information provided contributes to building a more comprehensive picture of the nation's conditions.

The spirit of collaboration is also essential to realizing One Data Indonesia (Satu Data Indonesia). Coordination among institutions is needed to ensure that data are produced using clear standards, remain consistent, can be shared and utilized across institutions, and are accountable. With a stronger data ecosystem, statistical information can be utilized more effectively to support development.

At the regional level, statistical data are equally important. Wonogiri Regency needs data that can objectively describe the conditions of its communities and the potential of the region. Such data can serve as an important input for development planning, monitoring regional indicators, evaluating programs, and formulating policies that reflect the characteristics and needs of the people of Wonogiri.

Therefore, HSN 2026 is not only a celebration of statistics but also a reminder of our shared responsibility to produce and utilize data appropriately. Quality data become even more valuable when they are used to support sound decisions and generate meaningful benefits for society.

BPS Wonogiri Regency remains committed to maintaining the quality of statistics by improving statistical processes, strengthening collaboration, utilizing technology, and developing sectoral statistics. These efforts are intended to ensure that the data produced continue to meet users' needs and contribute to development.

Let us work together to build a stronger data culture by increasing awareness of the importance of statistics, participating in statistical activities, and using data wisely and responsibly. Because good development requires a strong foundation of reliable information.
